Saran Wrap Manicure (or Cling Film Manicure for UK Readers)

Marvellous stuff and I’m guessing you’ve got some in your kitchen right now?  If not you could always improvise with a plastic shopping bag I suppose.

There are two methods from what I’ve read on the blogsphere:

1) Use the cling film like a sponge to apply nail polish or

2) Use the cling film to remove some of the nail polish

I used the second method here:

056

Base coat: Two coats of OPI Alpine Snow

Layer 1: W7 Silver applied generously then removed by dabbing with cling film

Layer 2: Sinful Colors Dream On applied generously then removed by dabbing with cling film

Top Coat: Seche Vite, two coats to make it really glassy

Verdict: This is such a simple nail art technique and with no specialist tools required!  It looks even better in person with lots of depth and shimmer from the silver layer.  It is reminiscent of murano glass.  Such an easy win and little mess.

I tried another one (on a false nail because I didn’t want to remove the above one just yet) to see what other kinds of effect I could get:

055

This was much more subtle with tonal colours and again is truly lovely in person where you can see the ‘depth’ this technique creates.

Please ignore my raggy cuticles.  I didn’t look after my hands on holiday oops.
